We conduct our daily lives unaware of much that surrounds us. The underlying systems that support our existence generally escape notice, except when they break down. I use infrastructural materials—pipes, wires, concrete, and so forth—to produce works that raise questions about our faith in these systems, and by extension our faith in human progress. I am interested in the environment my work occupies, and how its context can lead to ambiguity: Is the work recognizable as art, or does it blend in with existing structures, becoming anonymous? How do the structures we see connect to those hidden from sight? Questioning the systems that we rely upon is healthy. To question is to begin to remedy our inclination toward complacency.

I don't always see a clear boundary between my artwork and the objects I create that have some sort of function beyond the aesthetic or metaphorical. However, I do enjoy the added dimension of designing and/or fabricating physical objects that have a utilitarian purpose, such as buildings, furniture, and the like. The process of collaboration with a client can be very rewarding, as the practical merges with the artistic, and the client's vision blends with mine.

My music output of late has been a bit stalled out as I focus more fully on sculpture. However, as I continue some lyrical explorations I have put together several instrumental hip-hop tracks, some of which can be found at my myspace page. Look for the link in the propaganda section.
